Son Hanging From Hook Leads to Virginia Teen Mom's Arrest

A picture of a teen mom's son hanging from a hook by his T-shirt got a Virginia woman arrested this week after the image was posted to Facebook.

Alexis Breeden, 18, turned herself into authorities in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, on Oct. 30 after police were alerted to the photo and issued a felony warrant for her arrest, WTVR.com reported.

A horrified Internet community posted the picture to WTVR's Facebook page and also sent it to authorities asking for someone find out what was happening. The picture showed the 14-month-old child dangling in the air, hanging on a hook by his shirt, which was twisted around his neck. The little boy seemed to be crying. Someone’s hand, holding the child’s hand, was in the picture.



According to WTVR.com, Breeden’s former boyfriend — the baby's father — put the photo online.

"The baby’s father and mother had an argument and, in retaliation, the father posted this on Facebook to get the mother in trouble," a sheriff’s department investigator told the news station, adding that the father was not involved in the alleged abuse and that the child is fine.

Breeden had recently pleaded guilty to assault and battery of a female victim, identified in court documents as her mother. She was ordered to take anger management courses and have an evaluation of her mental health done.

Shock at the mother's actions led to numerous tweets.
